Question: Dear Don David, I am not a painter however I am repainting my new condo myself. I am frustrated at how fast the paint dries on my brush. Everytime the telephone rings my brush dries out before I can get back to painting. Is there an additive to slow down the drying? Thanks, Fannie Farmer Jerseyville, Illinois |
Answer: Hi Fannie, Yes, there are additives to slow down drying time. Any local paint store should have an "extender" to add to your paint. Usually these are added for "leveling" purposes. Make sure you buy a compatible Latex or Oil based additive, then follow product label instructions. I use gallon size zip lock freezer storage bags to tempoarily store my brushes in if I am distracted for more than a couple minutes. In case you need to store them for longer periods of time, you can put the bagged brushes in the freezer overnight or until you resume your project. Then just let them thaw out 30 minutes before you need them. I hope that helps. Thanks for writing! dondavid- |
